About Stephanie Stock
Stephanie is a member of JASH (part of BAHA) and an accredited member of the MBACP. She has worked in the wellbeing field for nearly 40 years, beginning her journey as a Psychodynamic Counsellor specialising in bereavement and relationship support.
Now, a little about me and my journey. Let me begin by saying that I believe, as Spiritual beings, we have come down onto the earth plane to integrate our spirituality with our humanity. I am passionate about helping others to connect with and learn to trust their inner wisdom from a balanced ego, and so I believe that development in both areas is essential for our sense of wholeness.
I have been working in the wellbeing field for nearly 40 years – the time has flown! My journey began in the therapeutic field. I was drawn into the world
of therapy when I took my 8 year old to a (deeply spiritual, I found out later) homoeopath. He gently guided me to understand that it was me who had the
problem and not my daughter. Recently bereaved, it came as a huge relief to be told that there was another way to look at the world, to be .. Some short
therapy gave me an enormous amount of relief, which I felt the need to share with others.
Following the integration of this experience, I began working on a helpline and then joined a local organisation, the Barnet Bereavement Project, where I
trained and worked as a bereavement visitor. During this time, I enrolled in counselling training, which I completed in 1995. As a Psychodynamic
Counsellor, I worked with the bereaved as well as those seeking emotional support, either personally or with relationship issues. I was also supervising
bereavement visiting groups in local synagogues and training community volunteers in charitable organisations. I continued to receive therapy during
my training and whilst working with others. Our buttons get triggered by the clients we draw to us, right?
I found my work very satisfying – until it wasn't. I began to feel that something was missing, but I didn't know what. The framework allowed me to
help clients to understand their journey (as I had discovered mine) and to make sense of how they had become who they were, but what it didn't offer
them, or me, was true peace.
I decided to take a sabbatical in order to find a more satisfying way forward and began the year with a reading from a highly intuitive psychic medium,
which I found very intriguing.
As the end of the sabbatical year approached, I made the decision to look into some spiritual training to support my development and enhance my work. I
rang the medium I had visited a year earlier for some information about a way forward. She told me she ran Circles, which I told her was very nice, but I
didn't know what a Circle was! She explained and mentioned that she had started a new Circle the previous week, and I would be welcome to join - and
so my spiritual journey began.
I spent five years in Circle. Within the first six months, I was taught how to balance the chakra energies with a pendulum and how to channel healing, at
which point my mentor began sending me clients. I worked one-to-one with clients, combining my therapeutic experience with my spiritual connection and
found the results to be incredibly powerful – and swift. I later came to understand that it is not enough to just 'talk' away our pain. Talking is a very
important aspect of healing, but when we express our pain and move it into our field, it has nowhere to go, unless we energetically remove the released
energy from our field. This is where energy work is so very valuable.
My mentor pushed me for a long time to run my own Circles, but it took four years before I took the leap and went on to run 2 Circles in my home between
2008 and 2012. In my Circles, I taught spiritual practices including: grounding, cleansing, protection, finding our guides, guardians, totem animals,
psychometry, mediumship, about the chakras (balancing them with a pendulum) and so on. I also ran a couple of Spiritual Fairs locally to give my
Circle members the opportunity to share their gifts with the public, both one-to-one and short talks on their healing modality; a wonderful way to
strengthen their self-confidence.
I began developing workshops, which continue to be repeated to this day. The first was a one-day workshop: Working with the Chakras. In this workshop
I link the chakras with our emotional, mental and physical bodies and use crystals, colour, sound and oils to enrich the learning. I believe that an
understanding of our energy body is basic when working with the energy system; after all, a body worker has to learn about the physical body, Anatomy
and Physiology, in order to practice.
The next workshop that developed from the Chakra workshop was Chakra Balancing with a Pendulum. In this workshop, I talk about the mind/body
connection and I teach how to cleanse, programme and use a pendulum to balance the chakra energies and to channel healing, including a demonstration
and the opportunity to practice the teaching in pairs.
Training for Spiritual Leaders was later developed as a result of meeting lightworkers who had a natural connection with Spirit from a very young age
and who therefore seemed to have skipped over the need to develop on a personal level. Many were working without a healthy structure, using no
personal boundaries, relying on Spirit to guide them, without connecting or integrating their 'humanbeingness'. I found this concerning because, as
healers and teachers, we are modelling a way of being to our clients. If our behaviour is unhealthy, then we are giving our clients the message that this is
an appropriate way to be.
I thought I had finished with running Circles but Spirit had other ideas – and I always listen! During lockdown, I was nudged to give short talks on aspects of
spirituality, which led on to running weekly one-hour meditations online for the well-being of all, using some of the time for learning opportunities. It became
apparent that some of the meditators were interested in further development, and so between 2021 and 2023, I found myself running online weekly closed
Circles for two groups. An added bonus of working online was that I was able to have attendees from America, Canada and Australia, as well as all over the
UK – very different from running in-person Circles in my own home, and more opportunity for those out of our physical field.
I no longer taught spiritual practices (apart from grounding, cleansing and protection – spiritual first aid!) and instead focused more deeply on the
personal healing, development and growth of the individual.
In 2023, I decided to change the structure of my Circles and continue to do so today. Instead of running ongoing weekly closed Circle meetings, I now run 6
x 2-hour meetings termly, every 2 weeks over a 12-week period. Each term is complete in itself. The session is recorded, ONLY for those attending the
Circle, which is useful for those who are unable to attend a live meeting for any reason.
